OPTIBOND™ EPOXY system for epoxy tanks

Based on the experience gained both from installed tanks and from the research process, an anticorrosive protection system based on epoxy resins has been developed. Cooperation with specialized companies and tests carried out together with them have resulted in outstanding products for anticorrosive and anti-abrasive protection of storage systems in all industrial fields.

Technological process for epoxy tanks

Epoxy tanks - surface cleaning

Surface cleaning

  • STAGE 1
    • The components are degreased and rinsed
    • This is followed by a controlled warm air drying process and preheating of the surfaces to an optimal temperature for the polymerization of the epoxy resins.
  • STAGE 2
    • The surfaces are blasted with carefully selected materials. In this way, surfaces with an ideal roughness are obtained for better penetration and adhesion of the powders, thus ensuring durability and performance of the coating
    • A high-speed directed air curtain ensures the removal of residual materials

Epoxy tanks - surface coating

Coating

  • STAGE 3
    • The components are covered with powders in an electrostatic field, this process taking place in a controlled environment
    • The elements are placed in ovens at a controlled temperature in order to maximize cohesion between the epoxy resin particles
  • STAGE 4
    • A polyurethane layer is applied as a UV protection surface for greater durability
    • The parts are again passed through the oven to obtain the final product

Epoxy tanks - quality control

Quality control

  • The parts undergo rigorous quality inspection through a high-voltage penetration testing procedure. This procedure will identify any defect, inclusion or discontinuity in the coating thickness and will certify that the sheets successfully pass the Holiday test.

PetroTec® tanks: epoxy anticorrosive protection system

These types of products originate from the extractive industry, starting as early as 1893, when such tanks made from bolted panels were used for crude oil storage. The API-12B standard currently certifies these types of constructions. PetroTec® tanks are designed in accordance with the strict requirements and specifications of volatile substances such as petroleum products.
